Mrs. Annette McKnight Stewart, age 86, of Newton passed away Monday, November 20, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, November 22, 2017 from Pilgrim Home Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Grandstaff, Reverend Mike McKnight, and Reverend Teddy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service.

Born October 6, 1931 in Dale County, Alabama to the late Milton and Pearlie Bynum McKnight, Annette was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. She enjoyed shopping, reading, playing cards and travelling. When she was younger, she was a member of a bowling league and she was a proud military spouse. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Pilgrim Home Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman; her daughter, Cathy Lynn Stewart; an infant daughter; nine brothers; and a sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Tom) Heisner; her son, Gary (Jill) Stewart; her grandchildren, Neil (Melanie) Heisner, Eric (Fran) Heisner, and Adriane (Chad) Creel; her great-grandchildren, Leslie Heisner, Ella Grace Heisner, Crawford Heisner, Noah Creel, and Addilyn Creel; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Phillip McKnight, David McKnight, Norman McKnight, Eddie Arnold, Mark Powell, and Scott Holmes.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of the United Daughters of the Confederacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Pilgrim Home Baptist Church Building Fund.
