Clayton Gilbert Obituary

Clayton Alva Gilbert,83, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He was born to the late Clayton Wilson Gilbert and Ruby Eliza Gilbert (Williams) in Florida.

Graveside Services will be at 3 PM Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Memory Hill Cemetery, no public visitation.

Clayton was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and Christian man who was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, served as a deacon, and was the Chairman of the finance committee. He also taught a special Sunday School class at Vaughn Towers for many years.  Clayton was well known and loved by all in the community where he showed a servant’s heart. He adored his grandchildren and family who were  so dear to his heart. Clayton retired after a 32-year career with Sears.

Preceded in death by a brother: Eugene Gilbert, sisters: Kathryn McGowan, and Dorothy Cooley.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 60 years: Christine Gilbert, children: Christy (David) Spink, Connie ( Ray) Capaldo, Curtis (Shannon) Gilbert, and Carla Bauer, brothers: Winston (Bobbie Jean) Gilbert, Eddie (Patsy) Gilbert, sisters: Wynell (Hubert) Gilmore, and Gaynell Brinkley and a sister-in-law: Lutrell Gilbert, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving family members.
