Harvey Brooks, Jr.

Harvey Brooks, Jr., 77, of Dothan, AL. went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at 5:53 a.m.

Harvey was born October 4, 1940 in Daleville , AL. to Harvey Brooks Sr. and Annie Lou Brooks. He married Mary Boyd on  October 13, 1988.

After serving his country in the United States Army, he made a career with the Federal Correctional Institution retiring after 21 years of service. He was a member of Westgate Church of Christ. Harvey enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He held a special bond with his nephews Ashley and Timmy where they considered his as a father figure and mentor for life.

Harvey is survived by his beloved wife Mary Brooks; one sister, Cathy Cutts of Dothan; nephews, Ashley Cutts and wife Tina of Lusby, Maryland; Tim Cutts and wife Malory of Dothan; stepdaughter, Debbie McBride and husband Donnie of Johnston, IL; stepson, Dennis Lowery and wife Connie of Vienna, IL. He also had many step-grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces and nephews. Harvey will be dearly missed by all. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Harley Brooks; one stepdaughter Jeri Rae Samples.

Services will be held at Ward Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. with funeral service immediately following. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. Preacher Chris Jones will be officiating.
