Janice Faye (Bess) Paul

Janice Faye Paul, age 75, of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Born March 16, 1944 in Holmes County, Florida to the late Seaby Lee Bess and Jewel Scruggs Bess. Jan loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking her famous pound cakes and apple cakes for her loved ones and other delicious treats. Along with these favorable pass times, Jan truly admired butterflies and collected a variety of butterfly items.

In addition to her parents, Jan is preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Bess-Smith; brothers, Seaby Bess, Tony Bess, and Johnny Bess; and great-granddaughter, Hayden Mills.

Jan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Manuel Paul; her children, Glenn Paul (Maryann) and Janna Paul; her grandchildren, Johnathan Mills (Brandi), Justin Mills (Alyson), and Christopher Mills; Beth Paul; and Matthew Harrington (Leslie); nine great-grandchildren; her sister, Gerri Halbart; her brother, Mike Bess (Cheryl); her sister-in-law, Flo Bess; numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Sunday, June 9, 2019 from the Eddins Road Pentecostal Ministries with Reverend Jimmy Cook and Reverend Vernon Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be accepting contributions toward funeral expenses.
