John W (Sr) Johnson

Mr. John W. Johnson of Dothan passed away Tuesday, February 27, 2018. He was 79.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2018 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Bob Sanders officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, March 2, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted.

Mr. Johnson was a graduate of Cottonwood High School.

Mr. Johnson worked at Monsanto in Pensacola for 17 years and at Southern Nuclear for 19 years. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is preceded in death by his son Wesley Johnson, parents William Henry Johnson and Mary V. Gilmore, and a sister Mary Will Towns.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years Janie Johnson of Dothan; daughter Kathy Buchanan (Mike) of Birmingham; grandchildren Brandon Buchanan of Birmingham; Brooke Little ( Rayford) of Birmingham; Justin Johnson (Kristie) of Charleston, SC; Adam Johnson (Briana) of Charleston; and great-grandchildren Wesley Johnson and Payton Johnson of Charleston, SC., several nieces and nephews.
