Merlin Martin Obituary

Mr. Merlin Martin of Dothan passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019, at the age of 85.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, February 22, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Dr. Johnny Fain and Reverend Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will receive friends at the church from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Missions or First United Methodist Church Respite Care.

Mr. Martin was a member of First Baptist Church of Dothan and a member of the Wayne Hannah Sunday School Class. He served on Mission Trips and various church committees. Prior to his retirement, he was a member of the Rotary Club, supervisor for the ASCA and selected as outstanding farmer by several civic organizations. He also was state runner up in the USDA farmer of the year program. He graduated from Rehobeth High School and Wallace College with a degree in Agri Business. He was the owner of Martin Farms.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oma Lee Martin and Pearl Thomley Martin and brother, John Marcus Martin.

Survivors include wife, Faye Martin, daughter, Teresa Dauphin (David), son, Rick Martin (Yvette), sisters, Jean Martin Rice and Patricia “Patsy” Martin Durden (Lawrence), grandsons, Dr. Patrick Dauphin (Kayla) and Andrew Dauphin, granddaughters, Alyssa Martin and  Madison Martin, great-granddaughter, Maddy Kate Dauphin, and several nieces and nephews.
