Michael Ray Jackson

Michael Ray Jackson passed away Friday, July 6, 2018 at Enterprise Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, July 13, 2018 from the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Kyle Gatlin officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM prior to the service.

Mike was born October 29, 1950 in Dothan, the son of John Jackson and Fay Fountain Jackson. His grandparents were Walter D. & (Kate Brackin) Jackson and Noah & (Mollie Givens) Fountain. Mike loved music and in his youth, he and several friends formed the band The Minutemen. They played at Porter’s Fairyland in Dothan and other locations. Mike began working at an early age and was a hard worker all of his life. He worked at the family business, Jackson Gas & Electric Service, Inc. for over 40 years. He also worked for many years at Sealy Springs in Cottonwood, Alabama. Mike was a very generous man, always putting the needs of others ahead of his own. He enjoyed spending time on the water with his family, boating and fishing. He also enjoyed hunting.

Mike was predeceased by his grandparents, his parents, and his second mother, Helen Kirkland Jackson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 25 years, Myra Jackson; son, Freddie (Caryn) Jackson; two daughters, Michele Harrison Melton and Chris (David) Wallace; grandson, Justyn Jackson; four granddaughters, Caitlyn Jackson, Summer Harrison, Paige (Brian) Ireland and Elizabeth Brunson; sister, Karla Jackson; and a special friend Byron Brunson.
