Sarah Lou (Adkins) Sexton Gray

Mrs. Sarah Adkins Sexton Gray, born February 24, 1938, departed this life on December 30, 2018 at age 80. She was “Mom” to two children and “Memmie” to four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Born in Coffee County, she resided in Elba during her childhood and her adult years in the Victoria Community of Coffee County where she was always cherished and enjoyed reminiscing of the time spent with her friends and neighbors. Many of her golden years were spent happily living at Hartford Retirement Village in Hartford, AL where she enjoyed many great friendships with residents and staff. Upon entering Enterprise Health and Rehab in 2016, she continued to garner great friendships and was endeared as “Memmie” by her wonderful caregivers.              

Survivors include a son, Thomas (Marilyn) Sexton, Columbia, AL; Nickie (Edward) Jinright, Woodland Grove Community of Coffee County, AL; Grandchildren, Jerod (Courtney) Jinright, Woodland Grove Community of Coffee County, AL, Jill (Landon) Free, Elba, AL; Jessica Sexton, Chief Petty Officer, U. S. Navy, Norfolk, VA; and David (Tiffany) Sexton, Dothan, AL; Great-grandchildren are Landra, Laikyn, and Avery Free, John and RaeAnn Jinright, and Everett Sexton. She is also survived by a sister, Laveral Kelley Pritchett, Americus, GA, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Adkins of Enterprise, AL, and a brother-in-law, Don Davis, Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at 11 AM at Woodland Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Donnie Marler officiating. A visitation will be held from 10 AM to 11 AM, prior to the service. Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to Woodland Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund at PO Box 681, Elba, AL  36323.
