Ramona Cook Dillard 3/23/1931 – 11/13/2017
Amos Dee Dillard 03/08/1919 – 07/09/2014
Ramona was a housewife and active volunteer, Girl Scout leader, Red Cross volunteer, and a hospital volunteer at the Medical Center. She was an avid reader – her favorite author was Agatha Christie. She was an alumna of University of Alabama and a staunch Bama football fan. Ramona also was a lover of scripture – with a large library of Study Bibles and Bible Commentaries, which were frequently spread around her as she read and studied.
Amos was a veterinarian who worked for USDA Consumer Protection for over 30 years. After retirement, he was a substitute teacher and remedial math teacher at Dothan High School. He was a hospital volunteer with Ramona at the Medical Center for over 25 years after his retirement. Amos was an Auburn University graduate (who knew better than to be an Auburn football fan). He was also a WWII Army veteran who served in Belgium, France, and Germany.
At the time of Amos’ death, Amos and Ramona had been married 61 years. They were members of First United Methodist Church.
They are survived by their daughter, Dr. Margo Dillard of Denton, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 2 PM, Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Memory Hill Cemetery.
