Anita Keeffe Mixon

Anita Keeffe Mixon, 78, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021 at Extendicare following a brief illness. She was born on January 17, 1943 to Juanita and Winston Keeffe.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2021 at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Anita was a 1961 graduate of Andalusia High School. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and loving friend. Mrs. Anita thoroughly enjoyed cooking for her family, caring for her plants, and observing local wildlife, especially hummingbirds. Another pastime she enjoyed in her younger years was walking fields in the spring hunting arrowheads after rains. Mrs. Anita graciously gave unique gifts to her family and friends. She genuinely enjoyed giving to people. Mrs. Anita will be dearly missed by many.

Mrs. Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Juanita and Winston Keeffe, and her husband of 50 years, Danny Aris Mixon.

Mrs. Anita is survived by two sons, Michael Benton Petty and Andrew Clay Mixon (Paula) and daughter, Anna Kay Holland (Paul Coker); a sister, Jackie Watt (Tom); a granddaughter, Anna Mixon Smith (Jackson); three grandsons, Matthew Bullard (Rachael), Travis Clay Mixon, and Shelden Clay Mixon; three great-grandchildren; Aubrie and Wyatt Bullard, Ivy Katherine Smith, and many other relatives and friends, including a special lifelong friend, Jean Sasson.

The family would like to give thanks to the staff at Extendicare, especially Mrs. Kristin Sherer. Their professionalism, compassion, and love for Mrs. Anita was extraordinary. The family is truly grateful to them for providing comfort and peace to Mrs. Anita, as well as her family members.
