Betty Jean Dismuke, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at Flowers Hospital. She was 94.
Funeral services for Ms. Dismuke will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday, March 1, 2026 Sunday, March 1, 2026 in the chapel of Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Chuck Locke officiating. The burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:30 PM at which time the services will began. Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions may be made to; Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund, 1231 Fortner St, Dothan, AL 36301.
Betty Jean was born May 29, 1931 in Dothan, Alabama to the late Jeff and Leila Maude Roby Orr. She was a graduate of Dothan High School and Riley Business College and retired from GMAC Finance after a 32 year career. She was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church and has been a member of Ridgecrest Baptist for the last 40 years. Betty Jean was an active member of Ridgecrest working in the children’s ministry, Church Library and singing Alto in the choir and she also loved to read.
Betty Jean is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Will Jeff, Ross and Al Orr.
Survivors include her children, Diana Knowles (Bill), Danny Dismuke (Barbra) and Andy Dismuke (Gena); grandchildren, Andrea Gohman (Brian), Christina Joy Andrews (Chad), Amanda Jean Cochran (Doug), Kathryn Garrett (James) and Abigail Dismuke; 12 great grandchildren.
