Brahma Nand Obituary

Brahma Nand, a devoted servant of Christ and a radiant example of steadfast faith and godly perseverance, entered his eternal rest on November 27, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on December 24, 1930, in Suva, Fiji, Brahma’s earthly life was a testimony to the transforming power of God, the strength of sacrificial love, and the hope found only in Jesus Christ.

The defining moment of Brahma’s life came when the Lord captured his heart. For many years, his brother, a pastor, prayed earnestly for his salvation. One night, during a tent revival, Brahma heard the life-altering question: “If you die tonight, where will your soul end up?” The Holy Spirit stirred within him, and the next evening he returned, ready to surrender his life to Christ. From that moment forward, Brahma walked faithfully with the Lord. First at Raiwai Bible Chapel in Suva, Fiji, and later as a devoted member of Grandview Baptist Church for the past 15 years. He raised his children in a Christian home grounded in prayer, Scripture, and a deep reverence for God.

Brahma’s life was defined by grit, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family. With little more than faith and determination, he left Fiji alone and journeyed to the United States for a year with one purpose, to create a better life for those he loved. Working tirelessly at any job he could find, his strong and steady hands labored day and night until he earned enough to purchase a home, a vehicle, and two extra lots where his children could run, play, and thrive. Ever mindful of their spiritual well-being, he ensured that a church stood close by so his family would be firmly rooted in Christian fellowship. Every effort he made and every hardship he endured reflected the heart of a man who placed the well-being and future of his family above all earthly comfort, laying the foundation for the blessings that would shape generations to come.

He was a man who found deep joy in the simple pleasures of life—whether in the melodious strains of music, the intricate beauty of wood crafting, or the quiet contemplation of Scripture. In his younger years, Brahma was known for his energetic and spirited nature; he even spent time as a lightweight boxer, a testament to his enduring strength and tenacity. His hands—equally skilled at building structures and crafting a purposeful life—were always busy creating, shaping, and inspiring. He delighted in puzzles, enjoyed good food (especially sweets), and carried a joyful disposition that uplifted all who knew him. His tender affection for babies and children revealed the gentleness of his heart, a warmth that remained with him throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ram Nand and Raj Kali Nand; his brother, Daya Nand; and his sister, Bidi. He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 71 years, Sarah Nand; his children, Vishwa Nand (Shalini), Shirley Nand-Bicknell (Tony), Peter Nand (Diana), Irene Burg (Robert Lesinger), and Robert Nand (Susan); his grandchildren, Angela (Omar), Nicholas (Charlene), Peter Jr., Michael, Alex, Courtney, Kaitlyn, and Riley; his great-grandchildren, Xieian, Shreya, Naviya, and Tejas; and his brothers, Prem Nand, Shrada Nand, and Sach Nand.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. (CST) on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Mike Grimes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grandview Baptist Church Building Fund in Brahma’s honor.

This date, December 4th, holds special significance, as it marks what would have been Brahma and Sarah’s 71st wedding anniversary, a testament to a union sustained by faith, endurance, and unwavering commitment.

Brahma Nand leaves behind a heritage rich in faith, humility, and perseverance. His life stands as a reminder of God’s redeeming grace and the eternal hope found in Christ alone. Though he has departed from this earthly home, he has entered the presence of his Savior, where there is fullness of joy and everlasting peace. His legacy continues in the lives of his family and all who were blessed to witness the light of Christ within him.
