Carolyn J. (Murphree) Garrett

Carolyn J. Garrett, 89, a resident of Cedar Springs, Ga., passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at Flowers Hospital. She was born on October 4, 1932, to the late William Claude Murphree, Sr., and Bertha (Johnson) Murphree.

Funeral Services will be 11AM, Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial to follow at Pine Lawn Gardens Cemetery near Blakley, Ga.

Carolyn was a devoted Christian and loved reading her Bible and going to church. Everyone that ever met “Miss Carolyn” loved her. She was the most gentle and kindest women. Everyone loved her coconut cakes, butter rolls, and pear pies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Carl Thomas Garrett, Sr., daughter, Dian Laney, brothers, W.C. Murphree, Jr., Clyde Murphree, and infant twin brothers, sister, Wilma Jean Gibbs.

Survivors include her children, Carl Thomas (Shelia) Garrett, Jr., Becky (Greg) Dean, Anita (William) Cleveland, brother, Tommy Murphree, sisters, Ruby Paulk, and Elizabeth Pate, grandchildren, Daniel (Fran) Laney, Bryan (Shannon) Laney, Ken (Crystal) Laney, Blake (Kim) Spencer, Mandy (Chris) Roland, Stacey (Josh) Dismukes, Michael (Leigh Anna) Garrett, several great-grandchildren, great -great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and loving family members.

 Serving as pallbearers will be Daniel Laney, Brian Laney, Blake Spencer, Michael Garret, Chris Roland, Dutch Pace, and Nathan Harper.
