Mr. Cecil Thomas, age 91, of the Madrid community, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2020.
Born September 3, 1928 in Clanton, Alabama to the late Elijah Thomas and Lena Mims Thomas, Cecil was a member of Madrid Baptist Church. He enjoyed farming and taking care of animals as well as hunting and fishing. He also loved building things and taking things apart.
In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his grandsons, Ronald Thomas II and Robert Shawn Beswick; his granddaughter, Victoria Lea Beswick; and nine brothers and sisters.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Audrey Thomas; his sons, Ronnie Thomas and Cecil R. Thomas (Suzanne); his daughters, Donna May (Larry) and Janice Beswick; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Willie Thomas; his sisters, Annie Pearl Davis and Doris Dean; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 3 PM, Friday, August 7, 2020 at Madrid Baptist Church with Reverend Jason Kirk officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 PM until 3 PM, one hour prior to the service.
