Celeste Rotherham passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, March 10, 2026, after a long battle with dementia, a cruel disease that slowly took her vibrant spirit.
Graveside services for Celeste will be held at 1 PM EST Saturday, March 14, 2026 at Brinson cemetery in Brinson, Georgia with Reverend Kyle Gatlin officiating. The family will receive friends at the cemetery following the service.
Celeste was born on May 30, 1944, in Bainbridge, Georgia, where she grew up loving her hometown deeply. She was a passionate sports fan, with basketball holding a special place in her heart.
She married the love of her life, Bill Rotherham, and together they built a life that took them to Nebraska. After many happy years there, they made the move to Dothan, Alabama, where they put down roots and thrived. While Bill was often the public face of their Interstate Batteries business, Celeste was the true backbone—running the operation with her strength, dedication, and sharp business sense for many years.
Celeste was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Bill Rotherham, and her parents, Bubba and Valeria Sims.
She is survived by her devoted daughters: Amy (David) Williams and Ann (John) Stevens; her cherished grandchildren: Jesse and Ellie Williams, and Emma, Grant, and Mattie Stevens; and her five loving siblings: John Alvin Sims, Tina Joanos, Myrvin Fain, Mitch Sims, and Alan Sims, who adored her dearly.
Celeste will forever be remembered for her wonderful home cooking that brought family and friends together, and for her deep love of Christmas—the lights, the decorations, the joy, and the traditions that made the season magical for everyone around her.
Her warmth, resilience, and unwavering love for her family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
