Curtis Hinson Obituary

Curtis Ladon Hinson, affectionately known as Curt to his wife and Ladon to his siblings, peacefully passed away on May 13, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of strength, determination, and love. He was a devoted husband, proud father, esteemed veteran, and cherished family member whose memory will forever be held dear.

Curtis, born on May 1, 1940, Jackson County, FL, was the beloved husband of Sandra Wyer Hinson for 62 years. Throughout their journey together, Curt remained determined to honor their vows and care for Sandra, especially in challenging times when she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. He stood by her side, providing unwavering support and ensuring her well-being.

With two tours in Vietnam, he displayed immense courage and commitment throughout his military career, leaving a lasting impact on those who served alongside him.

Curtis is survived by his children, Robert Hinson (Susan) of Gloucester, VA, Gregory Scott Hinson (Lisa) of Freeport, FL, and Patricia Decote (Eliezer) of Aubrey, TX. He will be lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, as well as his sisters, Mae Jackson of Dothan, Barbara Deese (W. J.) of Cottonwood, and Gurtha Murphy of Dansbury, N. C. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Curtis is preceded in death by his son, Donald Hinson of Newport News, VA, and his sisters, Vernell Brookins, Sara Galloway, Johnnie McComb, Jean Conrad, Betty Branton, and his brothers, Truman Hinson and Dorman Hinson.
