Doris Annette (Granger) Mercer

Ms. Doris Annette Mercer, age 96, of Gordon, passed away Friday, December 3, 2021.

Born December 11, 1924 in Houston County to the late George Dewey Granger, Sr. and Mattie Guy Granger, Doris enjoyed gardening and flowers. She loved to cook and adored her pets. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved doting on her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her son, Billy Ray Mercer; her daughter, Janice Mercer; her brothers, George Dewey Granger, Jr. and Leonidas Granger; her sisters, Louise Granger and Essie Lucille Tindell; and her daughter-in-law, Tonia Mercer.

She is survived by her sons, Bobby (Pat) Mercer, Rex Mercer, and Stacy Mercer; her daughters, Marie (David) Capps, Judy (David) Burks, and Debbie (Joey) Gilmore; her grandchildren, Melissa McKinney, Matt Mercer, Billy Rae Mercer, Brandi Isbell, Jennifer Killebrew, Dusty Faison, Matrelle Yarbrough, John Daniel Anderson, Jason Anderson, Kristy Crooms, Jodie Gilmore, Deanna Welch, Brandon Capps, and Rob Burks; her 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Saturday, December 4, 2021 at New Harmony Baptist Church in Cottonwood with Janie Harmon officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dusty Faison, Chris Crooms, Hayden Anderson, Saxon Yarbrough, Henley Yarbrough, and Matt Mercer.
