Gary Charles Moraska

Gary Charles Moraska, 72, of Dothan, AL passed away August 11, 2023 after a brief health battle. He was surrounded by his family.

A Celebration of Life service for Mr. Moraska will be held at 6 P.M. Monday, August 14, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 P.M. Monday, one hour prior to the service.

Gary was born on November 16, 1950, in Charleston, S.C. where he graduated from Bishop England High School in 1969. He married his wife Shirley in June 1970 and was deployed to Vietnam that September. Upon his return in 1971 he worked at the Charleston Shipyard as a rigger for submarines until the shipyard’s closure. He transferred and moved his family to Fort Rucker in 1994 where he would continue his civil service and work as a contractor until retirement in 2022. Gary gave back to his fellow disabled vets frequently by assisting with transport to and from the VA in Montgomery. He always enjoyed telling a good story complimented with his own comedic embellishment.

 Mr. Moraska is preceded in death: George (Father), Jeanette (Mother), Frank (Brother) and Kristin (Daughter)

He is survived by Shirley his wife of 53 years, as well as his children Deirdre [Corey] Grace and Gary, Jr. [Christine] and one grandchild.
