Homer Adams Obituary

Homer Adams, of Taylor, Alabama, passed away on May 23, 2026. He was 87. He lived a life marked by hard work, devotion to family, and quiet strength. He was known by those who loved him as a dependable man who met life with determination and a steady spirit.

A private memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Iris Adams, and by a sister, Shirley Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joellen Adams, who shared in his life’s journey with love and companionship. He also leaves behind his sons, Grant Adams and Joseph Howe, and his daughters, Delma Smith and Denise Stone. His sister, Louise Johnson, survives him as well. Homer was a proud grandfather to Zachary Adams, Toni and Scott Yates, and Tabatha and Justin Bartfls, and he cherished the joy and connection that came with being part of a growing family.

Homer served his country in the United States Air Force for five years, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and discipline. After his military service, he built a career as a long-haul truck driver, a profession that suited his strong work ethic and willingness to travel wherever responsibility called. He took pride in working hard for his family, and that dedication shaped much of the life he lived. Those who knew him understood that his efforts were never for himself alone, but always with the well-being of his loved ones in mind.

Homer will be remembered as a man who lived with purpose and who showed his love through action. He was not one to seek attention, but his presence was felt deeply by those around him. His family and friends will remember his steady nature, his willingness to work hard, and the example he set through a lifetime of responsibility and care. He understood the importance of perseverance and carried himself with the kind of quiet dignity that leaves a lasting impression.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a legacy built on strength, sacrifice, and enduring love. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him, and he will be remembered with gratitude for the life he lived and the family he helped shape.
