Ida Lorine Baker, known affectionately as Lorine to her friends and family, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on June 24, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama. Born on June 6, 1940, Lorine lived a full and vibrant life, marked by love, faith, and a passion for her community.
Lorine was a beacon of light and warmth to all who knew her. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Jimmy Baker, and their marriage of 65 years stood as a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they built a life filled with joy and cherished memories, having tied the knot on August 16, 1958.
A cornerstone of her community, Lorine was an active member of Grandview Baptist Church, where she served on the pulpit committee, offering her wisdom and guidance. Her faith was the bedrock of her existence, and she lived every day with a grace and conviction that inspired those around her.
Her interests were a reflection of her love for life and her family. Lorine enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the mountains, which provided a serene backdrop for reflection and relaxation. She was an ardent fan of Alabama sports, often exclaiming "Roll Tide" in support of her favorite teams, and she never missed a chance to cheer on the Atlanta Braves.
Lorine's lunches with her Red Hat Club were a source of joy and camaraderie, and she cherished these moments of laughter and friendship. Above all, she treasured the time spent with her beloved grandson, Jason, and her great-grandson, Hudson. Her love for her family was fierce and unwavering, and she was a constant presence in their lives, offering support, wisdom, and unconditional love.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her daughter, Pam McCoy (Rodney); grandson, Jason McCoy (Tiffany); great-grandson, Hudson Baker McCoy; brother, David Tiffin (Judy); and several nieces and nephews. Lorine was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred Tiffin and Ruth Swafford Tiffin; her husband, Jimmy Baker; and sisters, Marie Westmorland (John) and Pauline James (Howard).
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Lorine's final days.
Funeral Services to celebrate Lorine's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, with Pastor Mike Grimes officiating. Her life was a living example of the words loving, faith-filled, and passionate.
