James Edward Carr

Mr. James “Jimmy” Edward Carr of Dothan passed away on Wednesday July 20, 2022, at his home. He was 77 years old.

Jimmy was born on February 22, 1945, in Texasville, AL to the late Hubert Carr and Johnnie Williams Carr. In 1981, Jimmy married the love of his life, Donna, and together they raised two hardworking and loving children. In 2005, he retired from GTE/Verizon/CenturyTel, where he then started working at Fort Rucker as the Outside Plant Manager until 2013. Mr. Carr enjoyed fishing, classic cars, outdoors, spending time with old friends\ co-workers, but his greatest joy was his grandkids.

He is preceded in death by his father, Hubert Watson Carr and mother, Johnnie Sue Carr.

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 41 years, Donna Elaine Carr; daughter, Kayla Shea Trotter (Jeremy); son, Shawn Michael Carr (Kala), all of Dothan; six grandchildren, Lofton Trotter, Serenity Carr, Clayton Trotter, Jesse Carr, Kaylee Carr, Brandon Lyttle; sisters, Pat Bailey, Emmie Morgan; and brother, Kenneth Carr.

Funeral Service will be held at 10 AM Friday, July 22, 2022, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Dr. Ricky Plummer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
