James Edward Knight

James Edward Knight, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, February 8, 2025 at his residence. He was 83.

Services for Mr. Knight will be held at 10 AM Thursday, February 13, 2025 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Pastor Mark Turner officiating. The family will receive friends from 9 AM until 9:50 AM prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Knight was born November 27, 1941 in Abbeville, Alabama to the late Reubon J. and Marie Walker Knight. He was a man that was the head of his family and enjoyed taking care of their needs. Mr. Knight was devoted to his church, Christian Home Church of Christ, enjoyed reading the Bible and taking care of his church family. He loved life and taking care of those in it!!

Mr. Knight is preceded in death by his parents; sons, Adrian Knight, Perry Townsend; sisters, Willie Myrl Wright, Barba Joe Knight; brothers, Robert Knight and Walter Knight.

Survivors include his wife, Martha N. Knight; children, Gregory Townsend (Maranda), Terrence Townsend (Natalie); grandchildren, Brandon, Brittany, Janell, Myles, Chris, Greg Jr., Malcum, Cierra, Jamal, Terrell and Terrance Jr.; close friends, Annie Lois Lane and Shedrick Jones, Jr.; great grandchildren, Liam and Kimora; sisters, Maggy Knight and Ruby King.
