James Byrl Martin, a resident of Dothan, died Saturday, October 25, 2025 at his residence. He was 84.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Thursday, October 30, 2025 in Clearman Chapel at Southern Heritage with Reverend Michael Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
James was born in Clio, Alabama January 21, 1941 to the late Judge Hillard and Minnie Mae Phillips Martin. He worked at Barrentines Fish Market in the 50’s before going to work with the City of Dothan where he worked for 23 years as an Electrician before retiring. James was known for his dumplings and hot dog chili and taking a fishing trip every chance he got, but he will be remembered as a loving husband, father and PaPa to his family most of all.
James is preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Martin; daughters, Mary Jane Sanders, Judy Lasseter (Jeff), June Jordin (Michael), Linda Joyce Andrews (Phillip); grandchildren, Brian Lasseter, Candace Devine (Jon), Brandi Horne (Brandon), Josh Shepard (Kayla), Megan Wilson (Dan), Brittney Woodard (Nick), Damien Martin (Summer), Bethany Lasseter (Jason), Dorian Harvey (Tucker) and Victoria Shell (Matthew); 22 great grandchildren and a sister, Shirley Jean Hobbs.
