Jimmy Shiver, passed away on July 30, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 78. Born on October 23, 1946, in Megargel, Alabama, Jimmy was a man of integrity and kindness, whose legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Jimmy was the beloved son of the late Otis Shiver and Juliette Till Shiver. He grew up in a loving home, where he learned the values of hard work and compassion that would define his life. After graduating from Frisco City High School, Jimmy furthered his education attending Alabama Aviation School and serving in the Army National Guard. His commitment to service continued as he was instrumental in bringing the Patriot Guard to the Wiregrass area where he became a respected Patriot Guard Ride Captain.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Donna Shiver; his children, Melissa Wigley (Joseph), Michael Shiver (Amanda), and Bart Shiver; his stepchildren, Tracy Lori (Billy) and Ben Barnes (Natalie); his sister, Gail Moore; as well as his 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. His granddaughters, Alexus Shiver and Madison Baker, preceded him in death.
Beyond his family and service, Jimmy had a passion for motorcycles and fishing. His adventurous spirit and love for the open road were matched only by the tranquility he found by the water. These interests brought him great happiness and provided cherished memories for his family and friends. Jimmy's faith was an integral part of his life. He attended Dothan Country Fellowship, where he found strength and fellowship.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Jimmy at 2 PM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Pastor Fred Bacher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
