Juanita Elaine Roberts

Juanita Elaine Roberts went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 9th surrounded by family. Born August 28th, 1927 in Newton, Alabama, she was preceded in death by her mother Thelma Beasley, husband H.S. Roberts, and daughter Linda Elaine Chance. She is survived by her son, Freddy Roberts (Donna) of Sandy Hook, MS, grandchildren, Melissa Still (Mark) of Erie, CO, Scott Roberts (Dannell) and Lee Anne Venable (Ronnie) of Hattiesburg, great grandchildren Shelby Elaine Still, Natalie Ann Bloomston (Jared), Mattie Elizabeth Roberts, Anna Craig Roberts, Andrew Venable, sister-in-law Nancy Woodham, and brother-in-law Paul Roberts (Jackie), and her beloved dog, Tiger the Boston Terrier.

Mrs. Roberts lived in the Dothan area before making the move to Sandy Hook, MS to be with family in 2017. She was known as Laine to those closest to her and Granny to her family. She was a devoted homemaker and pastor’s wife. Her son Freddy accurately described her as a lot tougher than most people gave her credit for. She loved to cook and was best known for her delicious poundcakes.

A private memorial service was officiated by her pastor, Brother Ricky Daugherty. Mattie Roberts sang and played “In the Sweet By and By” on the ukulele. A graveside service conducted by Rev. Eddie Littlefield was held at Memory Hill Cemetery in Dothan, AL.

Granny Roberts loved Jesus, her family, her dog, Braves Baseball, Alabama Football, and collecting Owls. So when you see an Owl of any kind or hear the voice Eli Gold on the radio remember that Granny Roberts loved these things too. Her final days were spent at home in the company of family supported by her care team at Forrest General Hospice.
