Kacey Dain Smith

Kacey Dain Smith, age 25, from Dothan, Alabama passed away July 15, 2021, in Evanston, Illinois.  Kacey was born on May 16, 1996 in Dothan, Alabama.  As a child Kacey participated in various sports, band and ROTC.  She graduated from Northview High School in May of 2014 and then enlisted into the US Marine Corps to be stationed in Okinawa and North Carolina.  She was still serving her country at her passing at H&SCO, 2DBN, 24TH Marines in Evanston, IL as a SGT.

Kacey is survived by her parents, Douglas & Jennifer Smith of Kingsland, GA and John & Melissa Martin of Dothan, AL; her siblings, Dylan and Jonah Smith of Kingsland, GA, Christopher Hayes of Pace, FL, Ashley Hayes of Clayhatchee, AL, Karsten Martin, Tristen Martin, and Shaelyn Martin; her grandparents, Mary and Gerry Whalen, Larry and Cheryl Paul, Sarah Baughman, Mike and Irene Sonier, and Susan Martin; and her fur babies, Murphy and Jana.

Kacey was preceded in death by her sister, Kayela D Payne; her grandparents, David and Shirley Smith, and Ronald Baughman.

Kacey was loved by all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Thursday, August 5, 2021 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow with military honors at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8PM, Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.
