Kenneth Charles Wilson, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, at the age of 64. He was born on June 3, 1961, to the late Fred Wilson and Bernice Turner Wilson.
Kenneth was the proud father of Crystal Merritt (Dustin) and Daniel Wilson, and a devoted grandfather to Kristyle Contreras, Julian Contreras, NovaLeah Merritt, RosaLeah Merritt, and Kylie Wilson, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He built a life rooted in hard work, pride, and love — and he became a father figure to many children who were not his by blood but were absolutely his by heart. He showed up, he listened, he helped, and he loved in a way that left a mark on countless lives.
He was a man of many passions: cars, racing, and anything with an engine — especially working on and talking about them. He loved riding his Harley, the freedom of the open road, and the roar of a motor that felt like music to him. And speaking of music, Kenneth loved it just as much. He would turn it up, moving to the beat, smiling, tapping his feet, or showing off his dance moves. He enjoyed fishing, sitting on his porch, and telling stories that could keep a room laughing or listening for hours. Kenneth also took pride in running the family business, The Jacket’s Nest, and he carried that responsibility with dedication. He was also an iron worker, a true working man, and someone his coworkers bragged on—known for his work ethic, and skill - he never forgot where he came from.
Kenneth loved shooting pool, a good conversation, and he was a proud Alabama and Georgia football fan. He also loved the racetrack in Cottonwood, where his love for racing and the people around it felt like home to him.
Kenneth is survived by his daughter, Crystal Merritt (Dustin), and his son, Daniel Wilson. He was a proud grandfather to Kristyle Contreras, Julian Contreras, NovaLeah Merritt, RosaLeah Merritt, Kylie Wilson, and he cherished each of them deeply.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Gordon Cemetery, with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2025, prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Richard Lee Woodham, Dustin Merritt, Daniel Wilson, Julian Contreras, Jimmy Taylor, and Kenneth Conrad.
Though our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing Kenneth is now reunited with the loved ones who went before him — his mother, father, and siblings — whole again and resting in the presence of the Lord.
