Kenneth Alan Baxley, known affectionately as Alan to his friends and family, passed as peacefully as one could hope, surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of laughter, love, and a little bit of mischief on March 6, 2025. Born on August 10, 1958, Alan's life was a testament to his deep roots and the strong connections he made throughout his 66 years.
A graduate of Ashford Academy's class of 1978, Alan was a man who knew the value of a good day's work and the even greater value of a good day spent in the woods. He was a true outdoorsman, happiest when he was hunting or just enjoying the great outdoors. Alan was the kind of friend who would go to the ends of the earth for you, or at least to the end of his driveway, which in Alabama could be just as far. Alan loved his family in his own unique way, which often included playful teasing about his unwavering loyalty to the Alabama Crimson Tide, despite the rest of the clan rooting for the Auburn Tigers.
Alan is preceded in death by his mother, Foye Reeves Baxley, and his sister, Beth Baxley Brannon. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his surviving family members: his father, Billy Frank Baxley; his daughter, Ana Kight (Matt); his son, Paul Baxley; his grandsons, Colby James Kight and Cooper Luke Kight; his sisters, Cassandra Canady (Don) and Robin Taylor (Donald Ray); brother-in-law, Charlie Brannon, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will hold him dear in their hearts.
Alan's life will be honored and celebrated during a visitation at Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, from 5:00 until 7:00p.m. It will be an opportunity for friends and family to gather, share stories, and remember a life well-lived.
