Mrs. Laura Mae Enfinger, age 92, of Dothan, died surrounded by her family Saturday, September 29, 2023.
Born July 19, 1931 in Webb, Alabama to the late Walter Lee Shaw and Lilla Elizabeth Hughes Shaw, Laura graduated Donalsonville High School in 1948 and later married the love of her life, Edsel Paul Enfinger. She was a faithful member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church for 64 years joining in 1959 as a founding member. While her children were growing up she served by teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Laura also loved singing in the Senior Adults Choir and served as a volunteer at SEAMC for 20 years as well as RSVP for a number of years. She enjoyed a multitude of hobbies, including gardening and flowers (especially her roses) and cutting grass. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, needlepoint, and crocheting. Laura was the best cook ever and was known to be very particular about food but she made the most delicious pound cakes, desserts, dressing, and all dishes southern. She loved spending time with friends, relatives, and family but nothing more than spending time with and taking care of her children and grandchildren. In recent years, Laura loved living at Whitehall Assisted Living and the friends and staff she met there. She enjoyed their delicious meals and activities, especially bingo, exercise and Bible study. Laura will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her and her love for the Lord.
In addition to her parents, Laura was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Edsel Paul Enfinger; her brothers, Royce Shaw and James Shaw; and her sister, Mary Nell McIntyre.
