Louie Mack Bowman, 92, entered into the presence of the Lord on Monday, March 3, 2025. Louie was born on December 2, 1932, in Dothan, AL. He was the 12th of 13 children, and the last surviving child born to Daniel McNeal Bowman and Myrtle Gray Bowman.
Louie joined the Navy in 1955 and served on the USS Segacity until 1957. On August 9, 1958, Louie married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Watkins. They had one son, Steven M. Bowman.
In 1970, the Bowman family moved to Panama City, Fl. There, Louie worked as an Electronic Technician for the Bay County School District. He was a faithful member and a Deacon of First Baptist Church in Lynn Haven, FL. After his retirement in 2003, he and Shirley returned to Dothan. There, they became active members of Memphis Baptist Church.
Louie is survived by his wife of 65 years, Shirley Jean Watkins Bowman and his son, Steven (Marie) Bowman; two grandsons, Christopher Bowman and Kyle (Marla) Bowman and two granddaughters, Aimee Befort (Dean) and Molly Fannin (J.R.); nine great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
Pall bearers will be Christopher Bowman, Kyle Bowman, Royce Bowman, Nykeria Bowman, Robert Eckenroth and David Wells. Bobby Blackmon is an honorary Pall bearer.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Memphis Baptist Church. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 with Brother Jim Tate officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery 2390 Hartford Highway, Dothan, AL 36305.
