Marilyn Pettersen Obituary

Mrs. Marilyn Shipp Pettersen, age 91, of Dothan, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Henry County Health and Rehab in Abbeville.

Born September 19, 1930 in Shreveport, Louisiana to the late Vinson and Ora Birdie Shipp, Marilyn was an accomplished musician, having played the piano from the age of 6. In addition to her love of music, Marilyn loved word search puzzles. After raising her children, Marilyn went back to school and earned her Bachelor’s degree.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Paul A. Murphey, Frank Warren Murphey, John V. E. Murphey, and Marilyn Amelia Stansell; her grandchildren, Katherine, Elizabeth, Virginia, Shoichi, Kazuyuki, Jackson, and Ben; her three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

A private family service will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery.
