Mary Lou Ivey , age 83, of Dothan, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, April 20, 2026 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12 to 1 P.M. Monday, one hour prior to the service.

She was born on March 29, 1943, in Henry County, Alabama. Mary Lou was fun-loving, and was well loved by all who knew her. She had a warm and generous spirit and was known for loving people and for taking care of people in any way she could. She was the kind of person who noticed when someone was in need and was always willing to lend a helping hand.

She especially enjoyed simple pleasures in life, including cheese crackers and honey buns, and she was known for sharing her cheese crackers with others. That small but thoughtful habit reflected the generous heart she carried throughout her life. Mary Lou found joy in the fellowship of others and in the blessings of everyday moments. She attended Christ Church International, where her faith was an important part of her life. She loved her Lord and enjoyed praising Him during the service, lifting her voice in worship with sincerity and devotion.

Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, Marrell and Ethel Powers Davis; her sons, Daniel and Timothy McCord; and several brothers. Though her family grieves her passing, they take comfort in the many memories she leaves behind and in the example of love and faith she set for them.

She is survived by her son, Danny Ray McCord (Gwen); her daughters, Rebecca Cook and Pam Pressnall; her sister, Patricia Burkett (Donnie); her brother, Arthur Davis (Cynthia); several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and nephews

Mary Lou will be remembered as a loving and faith-filled woman whose life was a blessing to her family. Her legacy is one of compassion, devotion, and kindness and her family will continue to hold to the memories they have of Mary Lou.
