Matthew Lavaughn Mason

Matthew Lavaughn Mason, age 40, of Abbeville, AL, went to be with the Lord November 20, 2019 in Dothan, AL.

Memorial services will be held at 4 P.M. Monday December 2, 2019 at Ward-Wilson Funeral with Brother John Whigham of The Bridge, officiating. Arrangements are by The Ward-Wilson Funeral Home.

Matthew Lavaughn Mason was born in Lakeland, FL to Arie Lavaughn Mason and Cheryl Lorraine Jones on February 14, 1979.  He attended school at Florala High School. His fiance' and partner of 5 years was Brenda Hall.

Matthew is preceded in death by his sister Regina Mason Sims, father Lavaughn Mason, uncle Kevin Jones, and grandparents Arie Mason, Nettie Jackson Mason, and Delmar Jones. 

Matthew is survived by fiance Brenda Hall; daughter Destiny Castle, son Michael Mason, daughter Zoey Mason, and son Zayne Mason; brother Tracy Mason, sisters Jennifer Holmes, Brittany Morse, and Breanne Whigham; mother Cheryl Jones; and grandson Kyler Wynkoop; many nieces, nephews, 2 great-nieces, a great-nephew and many cousins.

Matthew was a wonderful musician and enjoyed playing the guitar. He also loved playing basketball and watching football. He was an avid Florida Gator and Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Ward-Wilson Funeral Home, LLC at 2414 Hartford Highway Dothan, AL 36305.
