Mayon Carlos Sewell

Mayon Carlos Sewell, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Born on November 10, 1940 in Dothan and a graduate of Rehobeth High School, Mayon went on to establish Sewell Construction in 1973. As the owner of the company, he was known for his strong work ethic, dedication to his employees, dependability, and commitment to providing quality work for over 50 years. Mayon was an active member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir. His involvement in the choir was just one example of his dedication to his faith and his desire to serve others. He was also committed to serving others in the field of missions. His dedication to mission work was a reflection of his generous spirit and his desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others. Mayon also enjoyed fishing, finding time on the water whenever he had a chance.

Mayon was a devoted husband to his wife of 61 years, Billie Ann Sewell, and a loving father to their two children, Greg Sewell (Sharon) and Tina Welch (Rickey). He also leaves behind to cherish his memory numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mayon was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Troy Sewell.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Dennis officiating. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the Ridgecrest Music Ministry, 1231 Fortner Street, Dothan, AL  36301     .
