Michael Moore Obituary

Michael Alan Moore, born on August 9, 1960, in Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, leaving behind a life that was as full as it was unforgettable.

Michael was the kind of man who could walk into a room and somehow leave it feeling warmer, louder, and a little more honest. He was loving, funny, and the sort of person who did not just talk about helping people, because he was too busy doing it. If you needed something, he would try to find a way. If you needed nothing, he would still probably offer you the shirt off his back just in case you changed your mind. He was a provider to his family in every sense of the word, and he carried that role with pride, grit, and a sense of humor that made even hard days a little easier to take.

Michael had a simple philosophy that fit him perfectly. If he was not fishing, he was working, and if he was not working, he was fishing. That was not just a hobby. That was a lifestyle, a schedule, and probably the closest thing he had to a retirement plan. He was also a thriftier and a sideroad shopper, which meant he had an eye for a bargain and the determination to find one no matter how many roads it took.

Michael was a man of faith and a good man in the truest sense. He believed in treating people fairly, loving his family well, and remembering that everyone was the same no matter what they looked like. That lesson stayed with his children and grandchildren, not because he gave it once, but because he lived it every day. He talked to everybody, and before long, he had made a friend out of just about everyone.

He was a proud Alabama fan “Roll Tide” was more than a saying to him; it was a way of life. He also had a deep love for the Braves and the game of baseball, which he shared by coaching his sons in their younger years. He had a natural way of teaching and encouraging, always ready with advice and a confident take on any swing. His family will remember not only the lessons he shared, but also his laughter, his determination, his generosity, and his gift for turning everyday moments into stories that will be told for years to come.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Moore and Sarah Cunningham Hicks, and his sister, April Marshall. He is survived by his children, Christopher Moore (Shannon), Scott French, Katherine Meadows (Tucker), and Tika French; his grandchildren, Caleb French (Ciarra), Kaelan French, Chloe Clemmons, Kingsley French, Kiersten French, Cara McDonald, Sophia Moore, Ellie Olson, Stella Moore, Mavis Krista, Logan Olson, and Bennett Moore; his great-grandchildren, Hadley Martell and Blakely French; his brother, Gary Moore; his twin sister, Michelle Peel Vorse; his sister, Alicia Hicks; and his brother, Dean Hicks.
