Mr. Nelson Hooper of Dothan passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at the age of 82.
Mr. Hooper graduated from Cottonwood High School and was a successful business owner for over 35 years. He was an avid Alabama fan and was a member of the Tide Pride Scholarship Club for 25 years. He loved to travel and especially loved the beauty of the Smoky Mountains. Mr. Hooper’s genuine personality and smile endeared him to everyone he knew.
Mr. Hooper is preceded in death by his parents, Joe Hooper and Tullie McCord Hooper, wife of 58 years Shirley Williams Hooper, and 3 brothers, Joe Hooper, Jr., Ben Hooper, and Max Hooper.
Survivors include daughters, Holly Jelks (Mark) of Enterprise; Hope Snapp (Robert) of Dothan; son, Hudson Hooper (Mona) of Enterprise; grandchildren, Brad McDurmont (Tricia), Blake Mise (Brandon), Jessika Hooper, Derek (Krista) Hooper, Cole Hooper, Kathryn Adams (Kyle), Kassidy Jelks, and Robyn Snapp; great-grandchildren, Nora McDurmont, Joe McDurmont, Eli McDurmont, Braxton Mise, Austin Adams, Jaina Adams, Aiden Adams, and Robert Brunson.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Ed Jelks officiating. A private family graveside will be held Friday at Meadowlawn Cemetery in Enterprise, Al.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 4 P.M. Thursday, prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Honorary pallbearers will be Brad McDurmont, Cole Hooper, Derek Hooper, Brandon Mise, Duffy Battles, Taylor Knight, and Kyle Adams.
