Rachel Cain Obituary

Rachel Coleman Cain, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 62. Born on May 27, 1963, in Geneva, Alabama, the daughter of the late Reverend Cecil Coleman and Ouida Helms McIntyre.

For 36 years, Rachel shared a loving marriage with her husband, Jerry Cain. Their life together was built on commitment, companionship, and enduring love. Together they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the kind of steadfast support that becomes the foundation of a family. Rachel’s heart belonged first and always to her children and grandchildren, and she found great joy in being present for the moments that mattered most to them.

She is survived by her daughter, Morgan Shelley, and her husband, Johnathon; her son, Dillon Cain; and her beloved grandchildren, Solomon Shelley and Wyatt Shelley. Rachel delighted in her family and took great pride in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her love for them was constant and unconditional, and she gave of herself freely in ways both seen and unseen. Her family will forever remember her as the heart of their home and the one who loved them most deeply.

Rachel is also survived by her mother, Ouida Helms McIntyre and step-father, Henry; her sister, Rhonda Lewis, and her husband, Shawn; her brother, Danny Coleman, and his wife, Janice; her sister-in-law, Betty Dozier; her brothers-in-law, Tony Cain and Mike Cain; and her sister-in-law, Christy Vickrey, and her husband, Corey; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Cecil Coleman and her step-mother, Fae Coleman.

Rachel had many interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She loved Alabama football and followed it with enthusiasm and loyalty. She also enjoyed reading and music, both of which offered her comfort, reflection, and happiness. These simple pleasures were part of the life she lived so well, and they reflected the thoughtful and appreciative nature that so many admired in her.

Funeral services for Rachel will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, May 7, 2026 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Seale officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
