Mr. Reginald “Red” Williams, age 93, of Dothan, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020.
Red was born October 18, 1926 in Houston County. Red, a US Navy Veteran, served during 1944-1948 in the United States, Japan, and China. He later built cabinets, ambulances, fiberglass products, mobile homes, and boats. Red designed and built custom mobile homes until 1973. From 1973 – 1979 he designed and built ambulances for American Coach. Red moved his workshop to Rehobeth and opened Williams Craft Boat Company building over 700 custom boats and trailers. When Red was not working, he enjoyed gardening and being active in Ridgecrest Baptist Church and the community.
Red is preceded in death by his mother, Valley Williams and his step-father, Oscar Howell.
Red is survived by his wife of 74 years, Melba Skipper Williams; his sons, Roger Williams, Kip Williams, and David “Reggie” Williams (Kelly); his daughter, Wanda Faye Williams Cabion (Rodney); five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Ronnie Howell; numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Friday, February 14, 2020 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Dr. Jerry Spencer and Reverend Ray Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
The family will receive friends from 1 PM until 2 PM, Friday, February 14, 2020 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church, prior to the service.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Fellowship Class of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
