Reverend Harold Lloyd Tyus

Reverend Harold Lloyd Tyus, age 89, passed away Monday evening, November 22, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born in Two Egg, Florida on April 25, 1932, and was a resident of Dothan, Alabama since 1985.

Harold was a Credentialed Minister with the Assemblies of God for 72 years and was Ordained for 65 years. Throughout his ministry, he traveled all over the Southeast United States evangelizing. He went on to pastor several churches in Florida, including Glad Tidings Assembly of God in St. Petersburg, for 16 years. He also pastored Evangel Assembly of God in Dothan, Alabama until his retirement in 1997. He also served as an Assemblies of God Presbyter in the districts of Peninsular Florida and Alabama.

Family and service to his church were his love and passion. He was an avid reader and loved the Word of God.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah Tyus and Sally Cloud Tyus, five sisters, and four brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Stevens Tyus, son, Bing Tyus (Debbie) of Lake Wales, Florida; daughter, Lomell Taylor (David) of Graceville, Florida; son, Max Tyus (Regina) of Pierson, Florida; grandsons, Jeremy Tyus and Shane Taylor, granddaughters, Emily Stegall, Tyla Tyus and Beth Davis, four great-grandchildren, Hannah and Gavin Stegall, and Henley and Cora Tyus, brother, Philip Tyus of Marianna, Florida, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 11:30 A.M. to 1 P.M. at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan, Alabama.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, at 1 P.M. at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home in Dothan with Reverend David Fernandez and Reverend John Holly officiating. Interment will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rett Daniels, Ty Daniels, Rex Tyus and Ronnie Harrison.
