Roy Eugene Brewer, age 78, of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021.
Roy was born January 25, 1943 in Miami, Florida to the late Archie Wallace Brewer, Sr. and Hazel Joyce Lunsford Brewer. Roy grew up loving music, he started out as a DJ in 1959 in Bainbridge, Georgia when he was 15 and continued until his retirement. When he began working at WJAZ, he took on the name Roy Fox and has gone by the name since then. He moved to Dothan in 1983 when he began working at 95.5. His last stint in radio was the Saturday Night Stampede where his loyal followers called themselves the “Coonhunters”. Roy also loved college football and was an Alabama Crimson Tide fan. In addition to his love for country music, Roy loved to play music and could play by ear and had an incredible voice.
Roy is survived by his wife, Janice Brewer; his daughters, Candi Brewer, Karen Schwiderske (Ralph), and Rhonda Cordle; his grandchildren, Sommer Elder (Justin) and Hunter Cordle (Devin); his great-grandchildren, Jack Elder, Stella Elder, and Ivey Cordle; his brothers, Archie Wallace Brewer, Jr. and Jerry Brewer; his sisters, Sandra Calhoun and Carol Mott; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Seale officiating.
