Shawn Michael Smith

Staff Sergeant Shawn Michael Smith, age 33, of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022.

Born February 5, 1989 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Kenny Strops and Redonna Smith Thomas, Shawn was serving his country in the United States Air Force. He enjoyed music and car shows and loved spending time with his children, Chaise and Michaela.

Shawn is preceded in death by his grandparents, Dale Robert and Darlene Dean and Edward and Faye Strops; and father-in-law, James “Rooster” Tice.

He is survived by his wife, Katie Mitchell Smith; his son, Chaise Oden Smith; his daughter, Michaela Ares Smith; his father, Kenny Strops; his mother, Redonna Thomas; his sisters, Amber Smith and Brianna Staples; his father and mother-in-law, Thomas E. Mitchell and June McMurphy; several nieces, nephews, and great-nephews; aunt Jannas Winkler (Joe); special cousin, Heather Whril (Joshua); numerous other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with burial following in Memory Hill Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until 11 AM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
