Stephen Lamar Coe, 73, passed away February 27, 2026. He was born May 1, 1952, in Dothan, Alabama, where he grew up.
He graduated from Dothan High School in 1970 and later attended Wallace Community College and Troy State University. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served six years during the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic. After his military service, he served the State of Alabama as a Conservation Enforcement Officer until his retirement. Following retirement, a severe injury left him nearly quadriplegic and bedridden for the final seven years of his life. He bore this season without complaint and often said that the hardship strengthened his faith in ways nothing else could.
Even with his physical limitations, he used his voice to share his love for God with others. He was a member of First Baptist Church Dothan. His great earthly loves were hunting, fishing, and Auburn football.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Morris Coe and Martha Watford Coe, and by his daughter, Stephanie.
He is survived by his daughter, Tracy Triplett and her husband, Jeremy; his brother, Mike Coe, and sister-in-law, Sue Marie Coe; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew and their children; as well as numerous cousins.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff and dedicated caregivers at the Command Sergeant Major Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home in Enterprise, Alabama, and the Bill Nichols State Veterans Home in Alexander City, Alabama, for their compassionate care and faithful service.
In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held.
