Thomas Victor Woods

Mr. Thomas Victor Woods, Jr., age 82, of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2023.

Born December 7, 1940 in Brunswick, Georgia to the late Thomas V. Woods and Dorothy R. Edwards Woods, Tom was a 1958 graduate of Glynn Academy High School in Brunswick, GA. Tom served his country in the United State Army with tours in the United States, Vietnam, and Germany and achieved the rank of Major. Upon his retirement in 1983, he along with his wife Peggy relocated to Dothan where he joined an insurance agency as an agent in Headland. He later moved the business to Dothan where he remained in insurance until his retirement in August 2011. Tom was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where he and Peggy served as teachers. He also served as deacon and chairman of deacons. Both he and Peggy were deeply involved in church missions, making numerous trips to Central America. Tom was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Houston County where he was Distinguished Club President and for 2 years, he was Distinguished Lt. Governor.

In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his son, Bradford Scott Woods.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Peggy Woods; his daughter, Jennifer Blaire Merritt; his three bonus sons, Michael Devon Kiker, Kenneth Ramon Kiker (Susan), and Andrew William Kiker (Lori); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM CST, Monday, April 3, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Dothan with Reverend Paul Thompson and Reverend Randy Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in Girard Cemetery in Phenix City, Alabama at 3 PM CST, Monday, April 3, 2023.
