Wade Levon Lewis, Jr. of Dothan, Alabama, suddenly went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 59. He had a long history of heart and health issues over the last 26 years.
Funeral arrangements include visitation at 1:30pm with funeral service to follow at 2:30pm Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home, Dothan, AL with Reverand Danny Branch officiating. No graveside to follow.
Wade was born on August 2, 1965, to Mr. and Mrs. Wade Lewis, Sr. of Dothan, AL and was one of four children. He had many happy memories of his childhood days surrounded by his family and close friends. He graduated from Dothan High School, class of 1983. He was involved in many extracurricular activities throughout his school years. Some of these to include, a peewee football league, the Dothan High School band, where he fulfilled his passion for music by playing the trumpet, and he was part of the madrigal choir, where he was able to do what he loved most, which was singing. He later furthered his education at Troy University, where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Financial Administration.
In his adult life, he worked 17 years alongside his daddy, Wade Lewis, Sr. at Dothan Floor Covering. He proudly and diligently served as Minister of Music, Associate Pastor, and Financial Administrator for First Baptist Church, Samson, AL for over 17 years. He also served as a devoted school principal at Samson Baptist Academy for 12 years, where he touched the hearts and lives of students, teachers, and many more. Prior to his death, he served as an Assistant to the Chief Operating Officer at SpectraCare Health Systems, Inc. He loved and served the Lord and others with all his heart.
At the age of 33, he married the love of his life Alisha, on February 19th, 2000, and they were blessed with two precious daughters, Lauren Elizabeth (2002) and Abbey Grace (2004). He loved his family with all of his heart and put them first in everything he did and every decision he made. He would always say his greatest joy in life was his family and the precious memories they shared together over the years. Such as, the many trips taken to Gatlinburg, Tennessee and Walt Disney World over the years. He was an avid fan of Alabama Football. He was known for his dry sense of humor, wit, and his classic “dad jokes.”
Wade is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Leonard and Eunice Varnum, paternal grandparents, Charles and Beaulah Lewis, his father Wade Lewis Sr., and brother Steve Lewis.
He is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Alisha, two daughters Lauren Elizabeth and Abbey Grace, his mother Glenda Lewis, sister Melissa Kirkland (Ricky), brother Jason Lewis (DeeDee), sister-in-law Beth Handal (Nelson), brother-in-law Ron Durham (Sandy) and several nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces and nephews.
