Willa Dean (Skinner) Dukes

Mrs. Willa Dean Dukes, age 83, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023.

She was born January 24, 1940, to the late Oscar William “Pete” Skinner and Edith

Hatcher Skinner. She was a long-time member of Selma Baptist Church where she

taught Sunday School, VBS, and played on the softball team. Willa Dean loved

spending time with her children and grandchildren and her sisters.

In addition to her parents, Willa Dean is preceded in death by her husband Charles

Donald Dukes, her son Stephen Donald Dukes, a brother Shelby Gene Skinner, a sister

Patricia Skinner Womack, two brothers-in-law – JC Thurman and Harry Dukes, and a

sister-in-law Inez Henderson.

She is survived by her daughter Deana Still (Tim), and son Chris Dukes (Krissy), her

daughter in law Karron Dukes, her grandchildren Shannon Dukes, Millie Dukes, Emma

Dukes, Jacob Dukes, Elizabeth Still, and Hannah Still. Her sisters Florene Thurman,

Sara McCallister (Joe) and Linda Bush (Danny); a sister-in-law, Patti Skinner; and

several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30th with a Celebration of life service

following at 3:00 p.m. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Memory

Hill Cemetery
