Mr. Woodrow Franklin Cosby of Dothan passed away Thursday, August 24, 2023 at the age of 89.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Ward Wilson Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Willis officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Masonic Rites and Reverend Tim Willis officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 P.M., Sunday, one hour prior to the service. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Cosby was born in the Pleasant Plains Community on January 28, 1934 to the late Floyd and Pauline Cosby. He attended Houston County High School in Columbia. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country during the Korean War. He retired from the Army National Guard in the Dothan unit with rank of E-7. Also, retired from Sears in Dothan as a Service Supervisor. A 32nd Degree Mason, he was a member of the Blue Lodge No. 446 in Dothan. He was also a former member of the Wiregrass Lions Club and was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. He was the founder of Cosby Heating and Cooling.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Mildred Virginia Cosby and sister Mary Alice Littlefield, brother-in-law Ricky Shehane and step-daughter Diane Batchelor.
He is survived by sons Ronald Cosby (Lynne) of Dothan, Danny Cosby (Teresa) of Columbia, Dennis Cosby (Krystal) of Dothan, step-daughter Lynn Robinson of Austin, TX, step-son Bobby Bryan (Dixie) of Montgomery, step-son-in-law Walt Batchelor of Dothan, sister Martha Lois Shehane (Ricky) of Dothan, five grandchildren Jason Cosby (Spring), April Amason (Jon-Patrick),Christopher Cosby (Margaret), Kade Cosby (Teanna), Collin Cosby, seven step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
