Marilyn Starling of Dothan, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017. She was 66.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, December 29, 2017 with Dr. Johnny Fain officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 28, 2017 from 5-7 P.M. at Ward Wilson Funeral Home.

Marilyn was a graduate of Dothan High School, Class of 1969.  She worked most of her life in the field of telecommunications sales.  Her love for her community showed thru serving on various Chamber of Commerce Committees, an avid Board Member of the March of Dimes, a member of Civitan and various other organizations.  While she may have ventured to other cities for a while she soon realized that Dothan was home and returned.  She worked her last years in the health care industry where she found her love for caring for others.  Her failing health forced her to leave her favorite job of Marketing Director for The Terrace at Grove Park Retirement Community. Marilyn's passion for life was displayed through her perpetual smile and sworn work ethic.  She owned her own embroidery business known as High Cotton 2. Her creativity was visible thru her beautiful work. Marilyn was devoted to her family and her grandchildren were the bright light in her future.  She loved holidays and vacations together and could often be found at a school function supporting their activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Irma Dale Johnson, and Birchard Blain Johnson.

Survivors include daughter Amanda Jill Starling Hartzell, and Rachel Starling Shiver (Toby); grandchildren, Blain Branch, Cole & Katie Shiver; pallbearers, Blain Branch, Cole Shiver, Brandon McLure, Jason Carver, Trent Dillard, Bobby Sorrells.

The family would like to say a special thank you to Kindrid Hospice for their support and well provided care they provided for their loved one.
